Responsible play
last updated October 14, 2026
Steppix is a fitness app first. Challenges are meant to get you walking, and a little money in the pool keeps you honest. They're not a way to make money, and you should never enter more than you're comfortable leaving behind.
Play for fitness first
- Pick goals your body can handle. A missed day is better than an injury.
- Never walk somewhere unsafe, or when you're unwell, to hit a goal.
- If you're new to exercise or have a health condition, talk to a doctor first.
Set your own limits
- Decide your budget before you join, and stick to it. Entries are $10–$60, and you can play free challenges and drops any time.
- Free accounts can be in 1 active challenge at a time. That's a limit by design.
- Don't chase losses by joining more challenges to "win it back".
- Want us to cap your entries or block paid challenges for a while? Email support@steppix.app and we'll set it up.
Take a break or self-exclude
If you want to step away from paid challenges, email support@steppix.app from your account email and choose a period (for example 30 days, 6 months or permanently). During self-exclusion we block paid entries on your account, and we won't send you promotions. Free challenges stay available unless you ask us to close your account. A self-exclusion can't be shortened once it's set.
Signs it's time to pause
- you're entering more than you planned, or money you need for other things
- you feel stressed, anxious or secretive about challenges
- you're joining to make money rather than to walk
Get help
If money pressure from any contest or game is affecting you or someone you know, free and confidential help is available 24/7 from the National Council on Problem Gambling: call 1-800-522-4700, text 800GAM, or visit ncpgambling.org. We list them as a resource; they aren't affiliated with steppix.
Under 18
Paid challenges are for adults (18+, older in some states). If you think someone underage is using paid features, tell us at support@steppix.app.
