steppix.

fair play

every step
gets checked.

a prize pool only works if everyone in it is walking for real. here's exactly what we check, and what happens when something looks off.

where steps come from

straight from apple health.

  • steppix reads step samples from apple health, recorded by apple’s own step counting on your iphone or apple watch
  • steps typed into the health app by hand are ignored
  • steps written by other apps are ignored
  • each minute is counted once, so an iphone and an apple watch together never double-count
  • samples faster than any human cadence, or longer than an hour, are thrown out

cross-checks

then we look for patterns.

these don't ban anyone automatically. they flag an entry for a person to review:

  • a big step count with almost no walking distance
  • a perfectly constant pace for an hour or more (phone shakers)
  • large bursts of steps between 1 and 5 AM
  • steps added after a day has already closed
  • apple health and your iphone’s motion sensor disagreeing by a lot
  • more steps in a day than a person realistically walks
  • a second account on the same device

what happens next

flagged means held, not banned.

if a finisher has an open flag when a challenge settles, their payout is held, not paid. a person on our team reviews the data. if it checks out, the money is released to their wallet. if it's confirmed cheating, the winnings are forfeited, the player is disqualified (disqualified players never get their entry back), and the account can be banned.

you can always ask us to explain a decision or send more information. one account per person, no vpns or proxies, and no shared devices for paid play.

see something off?

report a player or a result to support@steppix.app with the challenge name and their username. reports are confidential.

i got flagged but i walked for real. now what?

email support@steppix.app from your account email. we'll look at the data with you; most flags clear once a human checks them, and held winnings are released to your wallet.

does steppix use my location to check steps?

no. location is only checked when you join a paid challenge or cash out, to confirm you’re in the US. it plays no part in counting steps.

can i use a step counter, treadmill or another app?

treadmill steps count if your iphone or apple watch records them in apple health. steps from other apps or devices, and steps entered by hand, don’t count.

what if steppix gets it wrong?

if a steppix system error affects a result, we review and correct it. that commitment is in the official contest rules.

your steps.
your cut.

join a challenge, hit your goal every day, and split the pool with everyone who finishes.

one email when we launch. that's it.
